Correctional Officers

Asking for mental health support should never have a stigma attached to it!

We’ve got your six.

Over the past 15 years working in corrections, I’ve picked up a couple of vital lessons. One, never remove the liner from your summer bomber jacket (you know what I mean if you’re an old-timer). And two, we’re part of a career that’s incredibly abnormal—an occupation that throws everything at us. We regularly confront trauma, assaults, stress, lack of support, worries about disciplinary actions, and more. It’s tough, and the absence of additional support beyond what our benefits cover takes a toll on our mental well-being. Sometimes, it’s so overwhelming that we feel lost, unsure of available options. To add to it, there’s always the financial side of things, making solutions hard to find.

We’ve been in your shoes, fellow officers. That’s why CX Solid Foundation was created—to bridge the gap between conventional therapies like counseling and other beneficial forms of support. Our aim? To alleviate the financial strain of seeking help, allowing you to concentrate solely on your healing journey. When your focus shifts from your bank account to your well-being, the healing process can begin, assisting us in navigating our careers more smoothly.

How do we plan to do this?

With donations from those who understand the challenges of our profession—those who acknowledge that we do the jobs nobody else wants to do. We’ll help set you up with a program that you believe could benefit you, whether it’s Equine Wellness, Art Therapy, Yoga, Tai Chi, Journaling, or others.

We should never belittle what officers experience. Over time, these experiences accumulate, and it’s essential to take care of ourselves not only for our own sakes but also for our families who rely on us to be at our best.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, help is available. Seeking support for mental health should never carry a stigma!
